Dear New Student/Parent!
Welcome! I appreciate you choosing me as your piano teacher. I have set up the following guidelines for your child's music education because it is an investment made now that will pay off in a lifetime of musical enjoyment. These guidelines clarify expectations and guarantee that
your child learns in a smooth and productive atmosphere.
Why It Works
Students stick with the piano when they feel successful and inspired. Teaching piano is a beautiful partnership. I bring knowledge and structure, and students bring curiosity and effort. Together, we build something lasting—not just a skill but a lifelong relationship with music. No matter if a student is playing professionally or just for fun, my goal is the same: to ignite a passion that will keep burning brightly long after the last lesson.
Student Commitment
Regular practice is essential for progress. The amount of practice time will vary depending on the student's level and goals, but consistent effort is expected.
Recitals: Participation in recitals is highly encouraged as a valuable performance experience.
Parent Commitment
Help establish a daily practice schedule and eliminate distractions (phones, pets, etc.). Your dedication directly impacts your child's success. Together, we can make music an enjoyable experience.
Tuition Structure
Hourly Rate: My standard rate is $60 per hour, $30 per half hour.
Lesson Lengths: Lessons are available in 60-minute and 30-minute formats.
Semester-based tuition: Fall (18 weeks) and Spring (18 weeks)
1-hour lessons - $1080 per semester, or $216 per month for 5 months.
Half-hour lessons - $540 per semester or $108 per month for 5 months.
Due Date: Tuition is due by the 1st day of each month, from August through May.
Late Fee: A $15 late fee will be assessed for payments received after the 1st day of the
Month.
Attendance
Please honor our time by regularly attending your lessons. If you have to miss, I require 24 hour notice. Less than 24 hours, there is no return of payment.
Options for Missed Lessons
Swap List: Students can connect on my swap list to exchange lesson times.
Virtual Options: A lesson can be delivered by Zoom.
Check-in Call: During the allotted class time, a quick phone conversation to go over progress can be arranged.
Materials, Equipment, and Extras
Piano/Keyboard: Students must have access to a well-maintained acoustic piano or a
full-size digital keyboard with weighted keys.
Books: I will select the books for your child, and parents will need to obtain these materials.
Additional Performance Opportunities: Extra performance opportunities, like festivals and competitions, may require additional fees. These will be discussed in advance.
Communication
My preferred method of communication is by email at olgapdahl@gmail.com.
Please feel free to reach out regarding your child's progress, questions, or any concerns
you may have. If you need to miss a lesson, please let me know as soon as possible.
Dismissals and Termination
Student-Initiated Termination: If you need to discontinue lessons, one month's written
notice is required. Tuition will be prorated for the final month based on the number of
lessons received up to the last lesson date, and any outstanding balance will be due.
Photo and Video Release
I may take pictures or videos of students in the studio for promotional purposes (website,
social media, studio publications). No names will be attached to these images/videos.
Please let me know if you prefer that your child not be included in any photos or videos.
I appreciate your commitment to music education! I look forward to a rewarding and
successful musical journey with you or your child.
